PracticeHI passes ONC's health data access test
PracticeHI completed ONC's standardized API test against US Core 7.0 with zero failures - open, secure access to health records for practices and patients.
PHOENIX, Ariz. - September 18, 2026 - PracticeHI, the practice platform behind Symmetry Practice, has completed the standardized API test published by ONC, the federal office for health information technology, with zero failures. The test, run on September 14 against US Core 7.0 - the version of the national data standard that federal certification requires - put the platform through more than 570 individual checks on how health records are shared, secured and exported.
For practices and their patients, it means health information on PracticeHI moves on the same open standard used across the industry, not through custom connections or proprietary formats.
What it means for practices and patients
- Patients connect the apps they choose. With a patient’s permission, health apps can securely reach their records - and the patient decides exactly what each app is allowed to see.
- Practices are never locked in. A practice’s complete record can be exported in the national standard format, ready to move to another system.
- Every access is accountable. Each request is tied to a real person and recorded in the practice’s HIPAA audit trail.
- Connections get simpler. Health information exchanges, patient apps and other systems connect through the national standard, without custom integration work.

The test is a readiness milestone rather than formal ONC certification, which is a separate process carried out by accredited testing and certification bodies.
